Uncertainty: Turning Fear & Doubt Into Fuel For Brilliance by Jonathan Fields
I have read many books over the past few years, but I have never read a book quite like Uncertainty. This book is full of interesting ideas and suggestions for how to excel despite your fears and uncertainties. Although most, if not all of us, try to avoid uncertainty as much as possible, the author suggests in this book that uncertainty doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, it is within an environment of uncertainty that many people become successful entrepreneurs.
Are you living a life of mediocrity?
The author provides practical advice on how to manage your fears and how to succeed in spite of them. So many of us live a life we don’t even enjoy on account of our fears. We may have a job that we dislike but we hang on because we don’t want to face the uncertainties that come with quitting. Instead of living a life of mediocrity stemming from fear of change and uncertainty, the author compels his readers to instead engage with uncertainty so that it spurs on action and creativity rather than paralyzing us. He gives great advice on ways to make uncertainty work for you instead of against you.
You will face fears if you want to succeed.
People who are really successful all face a great many fears through the process of their creation of a business, product, book, etc. If you attempt anything great, anything unique, anything worthwhile, there is going to be stress associated with it. But it is worth it. Embrace uncertainty instead of running from it, and you may be blown away by what you can accomplish.
Life is full of uncertainty.
This book really made me think about myself and how I try to avoid anything uncertain like the plague. It has encouraged me to instead face those days of uncertainty that lead to something greater, rather than running and hiding and living a life of mediocrity. If I want to accomplish anything in my life, I will face stress, fear, and a great deal of uncertainty. That’s just the way life is.
A life of value will have uncertainty.
If you are someone who wants to start a business, write a book, launch a major project, or do something no one has ever done before, be sure that you will face a great deal of uncertainty. And be sure that this experience will be painful. But even more so, be sure that it will pay off in the end. Don’t quit something just because it gets difficult and stressful. Instead, use the author’s techniques and stay the course. Understand that if you want to live a life that’s worth anything, you will most definitely face uncertainty.
View uncertainty from a different perspective.
So the next time you face uncertainties in your life, rather than shrinking back in fear, recognize that these uncertainties can be used as a tool to spur you on to creative genius. Don’t let fears keep you from doing the things you want in life. Instead, embrace your fears and allow them to motivate you to do more with your life. I highly recommend that you check out this book as it will really make you see feelings of uncertainty and fear from a different perspective.
