While visiting a friend who has young children, she shared with me a great online resource that her kids use to learn how to type. It’s called Dance Mat Typing, and it’s a website that is free to use. It’s based out of the UK and it makes learning to type a lot of fun for kids. The site is very colorful and it features neat animations to make learning amusing.
There are different levels so as your kids learn they will be able to continue to skill build. The site also contains free worksheets that you might find helpful. Although your kids will learn typing at school, this is a great way to make your kids excited about learning this important skill, and the neat thing is they will probably enjoy themselves as it’s made to feel like the kids are playing a game. I know it has been a while since I was in school, but when I went to school learning to type was extremely dry and boring. Online resources were not as readily available as they are today, but now that they are accessible, parents might as well encourage their kids to make use of them.
There are so many online resources available for kids to learn various subjects these days. Check out Dance Mat Typing, and Google search for other online resources based on various topics. You will be sure to find what you are looking for, and for the most part these sites are free, which makes it a lot easier on your pocketbook.
What are some other free online resources that your kids use regularly?
