If you like learning, you will find some amazing free resources on the Internet for pretty much every topic under the sun.  Although there are many great learning websites these days, I want to particularly mention Khan Academy, a not for profit website designed to help you learn without spending money or having to step outside your doorstep.

Khan Academy is a website that has a vast library of material covering a wide range of topics from science to accounting, to all kinds of mathematics.  Just type in the subject you want and it will bring you to the related material you are looking for.  You will find informative videos that are very well put together.  You will almost feel like you are sitting in a classroom.

The calculator provides information for many universities across Canada and gives specific information for various faculties.  It will give you an estimate of the cost for the entire program.  Some faculties may not be listed, as Statistics Canada could not get accurate cost information for all faculties.

If your younger children are getting antsy around the house during the Christmas holidays, you may want to direct them to the Starfall website.  It’s an educational website that helps children learn to read while doing various fun activities.  It is interactive and colorful and best of all it’s completely free!

A friend of mine who has young children told me about this website and apparently her kids love it, especially her youngest who is four and a half years old.  If you want to encourage your kids to improve their reading skills, this is a great way to do it.

While visiting a friend who has young children, she shared with me a great online resource that her kids use to learn how to type.  It’s called Dance Mat Typing, and it’s a website that is free to use.  It’s based out of the UK and it makes learning to type a lot of fun for kids.  The site is very colorful and it features neat animations to make learning amusing.
