Couples Without Kids Have Endless Opportunities

I know life doesn’t end after you have kids, but being married without kids has fewer responsibilities and does allow you to have a lot more freedom to do what you want with your money.

Also referred to as D.I.N.K.s, (Double Income No Kids), couples who don’t have children can freely choose to live their lives how they want, without worrying about providing for their children’s present and future.

My husband and I are currently in this category.  As a result, we decided to quit our day jobs and do some traveling as mentioned in previous posts.  I truly believe that any couple without kids could do the same thing if they wanted to. It all depends on their priorities, of course.

If we have kids someday, our priorities will obviously be different.  We will be concerned about providing for our kids and making sure they have a safe and happy home.  But in the meantime, with no attachments, we can take off and see parts of the world, and because we worked hard and saved up, we can do so without worrying about our finances.  Of course, before too long, we will have to enter the rat race once again, but for now at least, we as D.I.N.K.s, can enjoy this vagabond sort of lifestyle.

D.I.N.K.s truly do have endless opportunities, and my hope is that more of them will make the most of their years without kids.  It all boils down to their priorities and their willingness to work hard enough so that they can also play hard sometimes, too.

Don’t let these years of opportunity pass you by.  Make sure that you make the most of them.  Then enjoy the blessings and challenges that come with having children of your own.
