A Job Hunting Tip – Be Careful What You Post on Networking Sites

If you are currently looking for a new job, one thing you will want to be mindful of is social networking sites, and more specifically, what is on yours.  If you use Facebook, Twitter, etc., you will want to make sure that the content is appropriate and that it contains nothing that would make a prospective employer wary of you.

For instance, be sure that your profile does not mention anything about drug or alcohol use.  Do not use foul language, and most certainly do not mention anything negative about your previous employer.

Do Not Be Afraid To Ask For a Raise

Many Canadian women who work outside the home are paid less than their male colleagues even if they do the same job.  One of the main reasons for this is that most women never ask for a raise.  They work really hard and hope that someone will acknowledge their accomplishments, but many times this just does not happen.  Men, on the other hand, are generally less reluctant to ask for an increase in pay.

Knowing that your raise will be based on your overall performance, the most important thing is to prepare before arranging a meeting with your boss.  Think of concrete examples during your time as an employee with the company where you displayed outstanding behaviors and had above average results.   Do not be boastful, but rather let the numbers/outcomes speak for themselves.

A Quick And Easy Way To Stay Warm This Winter

If you are like me, when it is really cold outside, all you want to do is stay at home and sip something hot.  Well, for Christmas this year, friends of ours gave us some homemade Peppermint Cocoa in a cute little jar.  It tastes great and warms you up from the inside out.

The recipe is as follows:

2 cups icing sugar

2 cups coffee whitener

½ cup baking cocoa

4 large candy canes (crushed)

Once mixed, put 3 heaping teaspoons of cocoa into one cup of boiling water or hot milk.

Set Concrete Financial Goals for 2011

Today is the last day of 2010!  It’s really hard to believe that 2010 has come and gone so quickly.  Now is the time to reflect on last year’s successes and to plan ahead for next year.  What do you want to achieve in 2011?  What are your financial goals?

Picture in your mind what you want the next year to look like.  Then, write down ways you plan to make sure these things happen.  In order to ensure that you can meet your goals, you need to start early on in the year.
